While building a new home in Good Hope, Georgia, we decided to look for top quality furniture to add to this home. We wanted to find the best living room decor that would last for years. After spending days shopping well known stores, we found the furniture they were selling was expensive, overpriced and poor quality. We drove by the Leather Creations store in Buford Georgia late one afternoon close to their closing time. We were professionally met by Robert Wilkins who had an extensive knowledge of leather and the design of making custom couches and chairs. He told us to take our time and feel free to ask any questions we might have. After numerous questions and Robert’s knowledgeable answers of grain quality and the dye process used to make our purchase a lifetime possession, we picked 2 full leather couches and a matching recliner with all the bells and whistles. Robert worked on the price using all the discounts he could find that were available to establish what it would cost. I asked him for a few days to think about it , and when I called him back he had found another discount to apply to the cost. It was than I knew Mr. Wilkens was the man I wanted to business with. The cost of this furniture was by no way cheap, but I learned a long time ago “Good ain’t cheap, and cheap ain’t good”. Because the furniture was handmade just for us, and this was right in the middle of the Covid problem, it took a little longer to build it because of certain parts that were delayed. The follow up from Mr. Wilkens and the factory, we were updated every couple of weeks on the delivery. Finally the day came when the furniture arrived. The only word I could say was “Stunning”. The delivery people were just as professional as Mr. Wilkens and provided numerous information on the furniture and to keep it pristine in the future.
When I looked at the total price I paid compared to the top other stores I had visited that what they showed me was their best leather couches and chairs that could not even compare to the ones we purchased, I knew the extra cost was well worth it. I know many friends that have purchased what they thought was great furniture from chain stores, were replacing it 5 years later because they were falling apart do to the framing being mostly fiber board and not the solid woods ours we made of. Before shopping for leather furniture in the future, take time to research what outstanding leather is. You will find out how some dealers make leather look good but is cheap quality and not made to last more than 4 or 5 years.
I can not thank Mr. Wilkins for his professional advice and counsel during this process. I look forward to going back to see him as I am sure to add more leather furniture to my home in the future., Go see him as you will be glad you did!
